Collection: Stan Ricker (Mastering)

Stanley Dunbar Forbes III

US recording, mastering and lacquer-cutting engineer, born in Marblehead, MA, on Dec. 14, 1935.
Known for cutting vinyl at half speed (hence the SR2 or SR/2 for "Stan Ricker 1/2).
For SR2 or SR/2 in runouts, use only SR as ANV, please.
He etched his scribes into both sides of the vinyl, so when SR or SR/2, etc. are missing on one side, it has to be assumed that it was cut by someone else.

He has worked at:
Keysor-Century Studios (1969 - 1970 and 1974 - 1975),
United Sound (3) (1970 - 1973),
Location Recording Service (1973 - 1974),
JVC Cutting Center (1975 - 1983),
Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab (1979 - 1983 with some additional short stints in 1986 and 1995),
AcousTech Mastering (as contractor 1995 - 2001),
and was the owner of Stan Ricker Mastering (1997 - 2015).

Note: Since 1984 he was working full-time at the Naval Air Warfare Center at China Lake, CA.

Born as Stanley Dunbar Forbes III, his parents divorced and his mother later married George Noble Ricker. He was adopted by George and given the Ricker surname.

Ricker was voted Disk Cutting Engineer of the Year in 1981 by a Playboy Readers Poll and voted Recording Engineer of the Year in 1984.

He passed away on July 16th, 2015.
