Collection: Seawind

American jazz fusion band formed in Hawaii in 1974 as Ox. Changing their name to avoid entanglements with John Entwistle's Ox, they became known as Seawind in 1976 when they moved from the islands to Los Angeles, California. The move to the mainland was due, in large part, to Harvey Mason. He got them a regular gig at the Baked Potato in Studio City, just north of Hollywood. Mason also got them a recording contract with CTI and two albums quickly followed (in '76 & '77). Extensive touring delayed the next two albums (on A&M) until 1979 & 1980. The band broke up in 1982 but came back together for 2009's Reunion album.
