Enrique Martín Morales (San Juan, December 24, 1971), popularly known by the stage name Ricky Martin, is a Puerto Rican singer and actor who is a Spanish citizen. He began his musical career in the mid-80s, as a vocalist for the youth group Menudo and from 1991 he established himself as a soloist. He has released nine studio albums, three compilations, and over fifty singles in Spanish and English. He has sold around 60 million albums as a soloist. His best-selling album is the one he released in 1999, entitled "Ricky Martin", consolidated his worldwide success and increased Latino acceptance in the Anglo-Saxon market, selling more than 7 million albums in United States. Known as the "King of Latin Pop", his contributions and recognition in the history of music and dance for more than four decades, as well as his well-publicized personal life, made him an international figure in the popular culture.
