MC Brains

James DeShannon Davis

MC Brains (real name James DeShannon Davis) is an American rapper best known for his early 1990s work. His stage name stands for "Bringing Raps And Instrumentals Non Stop."
He gained mainstream recognition with his 1992 debut album Lovers Lane, released under Motown Records and executive-produced by Michael Bivins of Bell Biv Devoe. The album featured his biggest hit, "Oochie Coochie", which became a Gold-certified single and reached the Billboard Hot 100 and Hot Rap Singles charts. Despite early success, MC Brains struggled to maintain mainstream momentum, and later releases did not achieve the same level of commercial impact. However, he remains a notable figure from hip-hop’s New Jack Swing era, blending rap with R&B influences.
